Dr. Yassin is a dual-trained dentist, specializing in both Periodontics and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
He earned his first master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2006, followed by a second master’s degree in Periodontics in 2017, both from the University of Washington in Seattle.
Since graduating from the University of Aleppo Dental School in 2001, Dr. Yassin has gained extensive clinical experience in private practice, hospitals, and academic institutions. He currently practices Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Seattle.
In addition to his strong clinical expertise, Dr. Yassin is passionate about education and mentoring. He has served as a clinical attending in the Oral Surgery Departments of hospitals in Damascus for five years and currently holds a faculty position in the Periodontics Department at the University of Washington. He actively lectures nationally and internationally on esthetic and advanced implant surgery, Periodontics, and Oral Surgery. He also leads extensive online courses and webinars and serves as the Course Director for the Clinical Implantology Continuum at the Washington Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Yassin is a published author with multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals. He also contributes to academic research as a reviewer for several respected journals, including the Journal of Periodontology, Clinical Advances in Periodontics, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the Journal of Dental Research. He is also a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Community service is a cornerstone of Dr. Yassin’s career. He actively participates in volunteer initiatives, from offering free dental services to uninsured patients to supporting underserved areas through mobile dental units and medical missions.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Yassin enjoys quality time with his family. He and his wife Layla—a clinical professor in the Oral Surgery Department at the University of Washington—share a love for hiking, camping, swimming, soccer, music, and photography with their 7-year-old son, Medo.
Dr. Yassin has several publications and articles in refereed and in peer-reviewed journals, he also serves as a reviewer in many academic journals: Journal of Periodontology, Clinical advances in Periodontics, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Journal of Dental Research, and he is member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Giving back to the community is a large portion in Dr. Yassin’s career. He is known to participate in continued and ongoing volunteering events from running free dental service to uninsured patients to serving underserved areas through dental vans and medical missions.
Away from his professional life, Dr. Yassin spends the quality time with his family and enjoys hiking, camping, swimming, playing soccer, music, and photography with his wife Layla (Who is a clinical professor at the department of Oral surgery in the University of Washington) and his 7 years old son Medo.
